The Oscars are done and dusted, so let’s take a moment to appreciate this year’s beauty winners. It’s been a night of old Hollywood beauty with a classic twist, full of fluffy brows and natural skin and while there may not have been a lot of ground-breaking looks, they were certainly all beautiful.
Ariana DeBose:
Artist: Andrea Tiller
Makeup artist Andrea Tiller wanted Debose to look “beautiful and fierce” and we are pretty sure she killed that brief. Although it could be simply described as a classic beauty look, the dramatic smoky shadow with sculptural blush could so easily have looked dated, however Tiller’s artistry and DeBose’s unshakeable coolness gives the look a contemporary vibe that we love!
Maddie Ziegler:
Artist: Mary Phillips
I was a little bit surprised to see Maddie Ziegler at the Oscars, though I’m glad she came to serve us this look! With tight liner that reminds me of 90s supermodels and dewy skin that reminds me that I need to drink more water, Mary Phillips crafted a stunning look for Maddie. Her matte lip is contrasted with shimmery skin gives a subtle juxtaposition that somehow makes her look both her age and more mature.
Zendaya:
Artist: Herself
If you remember that old video where Zendaya totally owns James Charles in a five-minute makeup challenge, then you KNOW Zendaya slays her own makeup and the Oscars were no different. I like to think my blog inspired by her stunning silver eyeshadow look that she paired with sharp black inner-eye liner. Paired with her flawless dewy skin and glossy lips, Zendaya forces me to ask once again “How can I become Zendaya?”
Zoe Kravitz:
Artist: Nina Park
Nina Park along with hairstylist Andrew Mukamal crafted an elegant homage to Audrey Hepburn for Zoe Kravitz’s Oscar look. With arguably Hollywoods best brows, Park had no problem sculpting them into a soft but full fluffy shape. With old Hollywood winged liner and wispy browns combined with modern liner, we are obsessed with how wearable this is.
Tati Gabrielle:
Artist: Elie Maalouf
My personal favourite look of the Oscars this year was Tati Gabrielle’s look by Elie Maalouf. With brows to rival Zoe Kravitz’s and skin with a natural matte finish, Maalouf gives Gabrielle a splash of glam with bright gold inner corners. Usually I’m not a matte foundation kinda girl, but Maalouf is convincing me to give it a try!
