Having quality makeup brushes can make all the difference in perfecting your makeup application. From foundation and concealer to eyeshadow and blush, there are endless options on the market, but which brushes are worth the investment?

Here are the top makeup brushes you need and how to use them.

Rae Morris: #27 Mini Radiance

This list may quickly become an ad for Rae Morris brushes. If money was no object; i’d purchase her entire collection. The quality is second to none. The #27 Mini Radiance brush is luxurious and soft.  This brush is perfect for both powder and liquid products, and works best buffed quickly into the skin for an airbrushed finish.

Wayne Goss: Air Brush

This extremely soft brush is so versatile. When angled on its thin side it gives you a more concentrated application for contouring. The softly tapered tip can be used to delicately apply highlighter to targeted areas. Sweep blush and bronzer onto the cheeks with the large flat side. Buff powder into skin or blend away lines by moving the brush in circular motions with light pressure.

IT Cosmetics: #7 Brush

This dense and fluffy double ended foundation and concealer brush is the go-to both in my professional kit and my personal makeup bag. This reliable brush is easy to buff into the skin in circular motions to achieve a soft airbrushed finish.

Models Prefer: Airbrush Foundation Brush

Who says you have to fork out a pretty penny for quality brushes? This cheap and cheerful foundation brush is small in size and great to buff into any nooks and crannies around the face. It’s density makes it quick to seamlessly blend any liquid or powder products. I also love to use it to apply liquid blush or liquid bronzer around the face. The concealer version of this brush (looks the same, but smaller) is also fantastic.

Rae Morris: #16 Brush:

This angle brush is so fine that you can create the most realistic hair-like strokes to the eyebrow. It also doubles as a liner brush to get a beautiful fine tipped wing. Did I mention that the Rae Morris brushes are all magnetic? They can stand proudly on your vanity and not get dirty laying down, and can hang upside down to dry.

Rae Morris: #6.5 Brush:

This large angled eye brush was originally designed to quickly apply eyeshadow to hooded eyes in one sweep, which it does so well. I find it to be very versatile and use it also to apply complexion products to the face such as concealer, powder and highlighter.

Shisedo: Eyelash Curler

Ok, it's not a brush, but I'll take any opportunity to rave on about the importance of having a quality eyelash curler in your makeup bag. This one from Shisedo is wonderful but the Shu Uemura and Surratt Beauty ones are great too.

A common theme you will find with all professional makeup artists is this: we love makeup brushes that are multi-use & high quality that can stand the test of time. After all, they are an investment. Having the right brushes in your arsenal is going to cut down on blending time, improve your makeup application and make your life so much easier!
