Iconic London is fairly new to the beauty business, founded 6 years ago by entrepreneur Jade Elliot who is committed to making trend-led and innovative make-up to the highest quality - all while being cruelty free. They’ve successfully pulled this off and have taken the beauty and fashion industry by storm.
The recently released Iconic Super Smoother Blurring Skin Tint (AUD $53, GDP $27, US $32) is Iconic London’s take on the current skin tint trend. Meant for the no-makeup-makeup girl, this skin tint aims to give you a blurred out “Instagram” finish while still being lightweight and providing a nice coverage.
With it being new to the market, we had the entire team test it out to see how it held up!
As always, we start from the outside and work our way in. The product comes packaged in a chic rose gold and white box, which looks premium. The product itself is housed in a frosted plastic squeeze bottle, with a cute gold lid - which feels a little less premium. It is quite durable, compact and user friendly and would be great to take traveling as it’s not likely to break. I would have liked to see a higher quality container used, but it’s not the end of the world.
For an 18-shade range it covers a nice selection of undertones throughout the depth levels. The fact it’s such a sheer, lightweight product makes each shade a little more accessible to a wider range of skin-tones - essentially you can make it work even if its not a perfect match.
Lots of ingredients are mixed in there that enhance slip, spread, silkiness and smoothness. The top ingredients are oils and silicons that give that silky smooth application, fills fine lines and makes it very easy to spread. The talc helps it dry down to that soft velvety finish, and the glycerin included is your hydration bestie.
As this is a skin tint, not a foundation, there are a few different application methods we would suggest for different skin types;
Dry Skin: Top ingredients include water and glycerin (a great natural moisturiser) so this is a skin quench in a bottle if your skin is of the thirsty variety. Use your usual moisturiser and top with the skin tint and your skin will be at optimal hydration levels.
Normal/Combination Skin: You’re ready to apply at will! Our combination guys, may want to prime prior to application and then powder down your t-zone to assist.
Oily Skin: We highly suggest priming and powdering. You will also need to touch up throughout the day if you want to maintain a freshly applied look.
We tried three options so you didn’t have to! We used our fingers, a brush and a beauty blender and found it applies effortlessly with all. Its fluidity gives it an effortless blendability, it almost absorbs like skin-care leaving behind a velvet texture with decent pigment pay-off.
It stands true to what it preaches, it is a lightweight liquid foundation with a light to medium buildable coverage. It has a soft satin finish, which makes you look airbrushed. It is fragrance and essential-oil free, so sensitive skin folks can apply liberally without fear of reprisal.
Ash is in the hot seat again, and soak it up, because she is about to go on Maternity leave and we will be without her stunning good looks and dulcet tones in the office for a few months. Don’t worry she’s coming back and we will always have her TikTok reviews to look at if we miss her too much.
So, how did Iconic London’s Super Smoother Blurring Skin Tint go over 12 hours? Read on!
7:00am - Skin Prep: I’ve cleansed and moisturised my skin already and let it soak in while eating breakfast. I start by applying the skin tint all over my face with my hands, and then add a little more with a brush in the centre of my face, for some added coverage.
I’m doing my go-to “no-makeup-makeup look” today. I really am the target market for a skin tint product as I love to look fresh but with minimal effort. I finish off my makeup by applying some bronzing gel on my cheeks & forehead, some bronzer on my eyelids, a curl of the lashes, and most importantly - filling in my eyebrows.
10:00am - 3 hours since application: The skin tint has given me a natural blurring effect on my skin, as the name suggests, which I am really enjoying. I love that it looks like I have no makeup on, but I still feel put together and refreshed after a few hours of wear.
12:00pm - 5 hours since application: By lunch time I'm starting to look a little shiny and it’s worn off around my nose. I have combination skin and touch my face a lot so this doesn’t bother me at all but if you’re oily I would suggest touching up and powdering down throughout the day.
3:00pm - 8 hours since application: Not much has changed since lunchtime, the product has worn away from my nose but the redness on my cheeks is still covered and my skin looks like skin (Editor’s note: good to hear Ash!).
7:00pm - 12 hours since application: It's the end of the day and while I feel pretty shiny now, I still feel evened out and the skin tint has melted into my skin rather than sitting on top of or separating.
Ash’s Final thoughts:
I feel this is such a great everyday option for a fresh looking face that is truly no-frills - I felt smooth and put together all day. If you wanted to take it to the next level you could layer under a foundation or concealer for an ultra smooth and snatched complexion. However, it is still great on its own, evening you out and refreshing your skin for everyday wear. This one is going in my makeup bag.
